Job Description - Sales Specialist, Risk and Compliance - Toronto
Dow Jones Risk and Compliance (“DJRC”) is one of the fastest growing businesses within the wider Dow Jones organization. DJRC currently employs over 400 staff around the world who solely focus on the development and ongoing management of structured content, screening, monitoring and workflow platforms, and due diligence report services designed to enable our clients to identify and evaluate third party risk. Over 4,500 clients globally – both in the financial, corporate and governmental arenas – rely on Dow Jones data and technology for their anti-money laundering, anti-corruption, and trade compliance programs.
As part of our investment plan, we are seeking an exceptional technical sales professional with a deep understanding of the third party risk space. This individual works in partnership with the general sales organization, as well as the product and marketing teams globally. The prime focus of this role is to grow the Risk and Compliance business in your assigned territory by understanding client approaches for managing third party risk and advising on which Dow Jones solutions can increase regulatory coverage and build efficiencies with respect to time, budget, and resources for a compliance program. Based in Toronto, the Sales Specialist is responsible for managing the complete solutions sales cycle for the DJRC suite of products and services and driving new business revenue.
Meet your new business revenue target by aggressively growing the DJRC business across Canada through new clients and by cross-selling/upselling existing ones
Accurate forecasting of sales revenue, which includes rigorous and ongoing pipeline development and management
Identify, qualify, develop and close new business for the entire DJRC product portfolio
Collaborate with the Dow Jones sales teams across the region accelerating sales opportunities through the Dow Jones sales process
Work closely with marketing management to ensure that events, marketing, branding, and communication supports sales objectives and execution plans
Maintain relationships with external facilitators such as law firms providing advisory services to the market
Maintain records of sales visits, appointments, contacts and sales campaigns in the global CRM to provide timely information to management
Develop a territory plan and educate the sales team on key industry developments that could lead to opportunities
Provide input regarding the strategic direction of the Risk and Compliance business on subjects such as brand, positioning, value proposition and product roadmap
Participate in speaking engagements and provide thought leadership as part of brand development
Maintain an ongoing SWOT analysis of the RandC business in your region and present to and update the sales organization and DJRC management on any key developments
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
Fluency in English
Excellence in active listening
A passion for selling and exceeding revenue targets
Proactive and driven with the ability to work independently at times
Creative mindset focused on solution-driven approaches to complex issues
Specialty experience in at least one of the following areas or a combination thereof
Consultative sales of information and/or compliance tools to senior business decision-makers
Managing anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, or trade compliance at a multinational or financial institution
Providing advisory services in these areas at a law firm or consultancy
A background in technology, data science, and/or investigations or investigative research
Successfully work closely with people of diverse cultures or backgrounds
Effectively handle multiple activities and reprioritize when necessary to ensure revenue goal is achieved
Drive new business opportunities within prospects, as well as upsell existing Dow Jones customers within a team selling environment
This role reports into the Regional Sales Director for Risk and Compliance, Americas.
