Our consumer-facing brands have over 4m subscribers globally between them. The Marketing Subscription team is responsible for growing and retaining our DTC (direct-to-consumer) subscriber base globally, across WSJ, Barron’s, and MarketWatch. Our team manages the end-to-end subscription levers across brand, acquisition, engagement, and retention. The team is also supported by data science, analytics, and product teams. We also work closely with customer service, product, technology, finance, legal, and operations.

Role Overview

Dow Jones is seeking a Vice President, Global Acquisition & Paid Media to play a crucial role in driving growth and new subscribers through multiple performance marketing channels for The Wall Street Journal, WSJ Students, WSJ International, Barron’s, and MarketWatch.

The position is responsible for building a scalable demand generation, acquisition and paid media strategy while driving the successful execution of that plan. This role will oversee a team of high performing digital growth marketers.

This is a highly collaborative role that will partner across multiple groups within Dow Jones.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the development and implementation of a comprehensive and successful D2C subscriber acquisition strategy to generate demand for Dow Jones through our digital and offline channels.

  • Implement the end-to-end tactics for our domestic and international acquisition marketing campaigns with a focus on acquiring loyal, profitable, and long-standing direct subscribers.

  • Ensure media budgets are delivering against business goals. This includes re-evaluating the media mix when business goals are not being met, and understanding effectiveness and profitability of channels.

  • Identify and develop A/B testing plans for campaigns and partner closely with the Product team on the execution of tests.

  • Identify new opportunities to drive the business forward — i.e. new markets, emerging digital platforms, potential media partnerships, or uncovering general business efficiencies that increase revenue and profitability.

  • Partner with the Brand and Creative Design teams to develop assets for all digital campaigns (copy, images and video). Provide feedback to establish and maximize workflows to create seamless campaign creation and delivery.

  • Oversee, develop and lead acquisition and paid media teams

Requirements

  • 15+ years experience developing and driving the strategy of complex digitally focused marketing campaigns ideally for a direct to consumer product.

  • 5+ years in a leadership role overseeing a marketing team

  • Strong understanding of customer segmentation and how to address different needs of each consumer base.

  • Ability to analyze, interpret data and use insights to inform marketing campaigns and make recommendations.

  • Ability to effectively influence and communicate cross-functionally with all levels; exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Hands-on experience with developing and reporting on metrics and KPIs for business goals, process improvement projects, and campaign management.

  • Ability to both think strategically and execute tactically.

NYC Pay Range: $140,000 - $450,000
