The ideal candidate for the VP, Audio and Video Audience Development and Revenue is a skilled strategist who combines digital audience development savvy, a clear focus on driving revenue and project management skills to create a continuously-evolving, winning strategy. Working with a matrixed group in a fast-paced, news environment — including Video, Audio and third party platforms, — this person is an excellent communicator who can move among different disciplines within Dow Jones, leading development of new tactics, keeping teams informed and updated, while moving toward a common goal of growing the audience and revenue from audio and video. They will be charged with creating, communicating and executing a strategic narrative to increase traffic, engagement and revenue from video and audio content from WSJ, Barron’s, MarketWatch and IBD. In order to do this, they will work closely on a daily basis with a number of different teams including Business Intelligence, Newsroom, Marketing, Ad Sales, Product, Strategic Partnerships, and SEO. This person will help achieve key KPIs for video and audio content both on platform and on third party platforms.

Collaboration is a key to success in this role. This person will partner closely with colleagues on strategy, implementation and execution of acquisition & audience development and ad sales campaigns for video and audio content.
This person will partner with members of the Commercial and Newsroom teams. In order to be successful, this person will need to develop strong relationships to ensure that all initiatives are planned, executed and launched flawlessly. They will then need to work closely with the analytics team to report back to the team what worked, why and how it can be done better.
Oversee the audience development for audio and video across WSJ, Marketwatch, Barrons and IBD.
Partner with Ad Sales to track, optimize and deliver revenue from the audio and video business across the Dow Jones portfolio.
Lead the strategic vision to drive audience growth and engagement across channels and platforms to identify new opportunities for growth.
Work with Ad Sales to develop and execute sponsorship and other audio and video ad sales opportunities.
Lead collaboration across the Dow Jones portfolio to find innovative opportunities to grow Dow Jones audio and video revenue from ideation to execution as well as manage in-house promotional opportunities.
Manage team that works closely with marketing on creative campaigns to ensure they incorporate all best practices, as identified via the data from previous campaigns.
Oversee team that work closely with distribution partners including Apple and Spotify to communicate editorial calendars and secure promotion on partner platforms.
Develop and manage the day-to-day workflow with distribution partners across platforms.
Influence, communicate and report performance metrics of audio and video audience development and revenue strategies with company stakeholders and recommend ways to grow audience via different levers including strategies related to newsroom, product and marketing.
Liaise with the Product team when there are new product launches to ensure best practices and communicate back to product team relevant data.
Work closely with the analytics team to monitor traffic following algorithm updates and new launches.
Manage the audience development team’s contracts, invoices and budgets.
What you’ll bring:
Minimum 8 years of engaging and growing audiences for media companies in the video and audio space.
A deep understanding of digital media trends.
A sense of audience behaviors and successful content strategies.
Excellent presentation skills; proficient in working with data to develop quantitative insights and track and report on key metrics in a way that resonates with senior leadership.
Experience gathering and testing data in support of business decision-making, including customer/audience research, and in translating direction and goals into results that can be used to help WSJ grow and deliver even better offerings for our audience.
Experience working with distribution partners.
Team player with strong interpersonal capabilities who can work with and influence leaders across the business.
Self-starter who can problem solve and manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
