The Wall Street Journal is seeking a producer for a 10-part immersive and correspondent driven video series telling original reported stories. We are looking for a seasoned reporter/producer, who can generate and report original ideas and translate the reporting into a compelling video narrative. The reporter/producer has to work well in a team, has to be able to secure access and come up with creative visual ideas and work closely with our Director of Photography and showrunner to execute that vision. The job requires extensive traveling in the US and abroad. The position starts immediately and will run until the end of the year.
Must have a strong interest in journalism, and an understanding of the Wall Street Journal’s core topic areas.
Must be a seasoned reporter who can generate original story ideas and create a compelling visual execution.
Must be a seasoned producer, who can think on their feet and inspire and lead a small team – in the field and in the office.
Reporter/Producer also needs to be a team player – this is a small team and we all work closely together. Reporter/Producer is responsible for the execution for their episodes.
Reporter/Producer will need to travel extensively with a small team in the US and abroad.
Must have experience with directing creative multi-camera shoots and be able to direct talent/correspondent during field production
Reporter/Producer should be able to handle a basic DSLR camera and operate a second camera on shoots.
Applicant must have experience in producing narrated, news-magazine-length video content (8-20 minute range), and needs to have written scripts that included correspondent voiceover.
Reporter/Producer needs to be able to work with an editor.
