Pricing Optimization Manager

Dow Jones, the world’s premier publisher of online business and financial news including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s and MarketWatch, has an exciting career opportunity available as a Pricing Optimization Manager within the Revenue Operations team.

As a Pricing Optimization Manager, you will analyze and optimize pricing across our digital media suite. This position will play a critical role in ensuring yield is continuously optimized across WSJ and Barron's Group. The ideal candidate will have a passion for pricing and revenue growth with strong quantitative and analytical skills, and an advanced understanding of the digital ecosystem.

This role will work closely with Finance, Business Intelligence, Planning, Programmatic, Performance and sales leadership teams, and across media types including digital display, native, podcasts, and video.


  • Monitor pricing and rate card management for WSJ Barrons Group digital business, including annual and seasonal rates as well as ad hoc requests and escalations

  • Evaluate custom rate cards and exception requests

  • Analyze price sensitivity by sector, market segment, demand and reservations across multiple sales channels, and added value margins.

  • Ensure pricing, added value margins and account segmentation aligns with and enables the delivery of annual revenue targets

  • Participate in the optimization of operational workflow and internal process controls, promote adherence to process and identify potential risks

  • Collaborate with print and programmatic stakeholders on pricing analysis for all supply channels, ensuring prices are optimized to appropriately reflect demand and business priorities.

  • Provide key business insights and recommendations to senior sales and advertising operations leadership based on pricing trends. Visualize key performance indicators on pricing on an ongoing basis.

  • Work closely with leadership to develop and champion strategic initiatives that drive overall revenue and have cross-functional impact


  • Strong analytical, strategic and creative problem-solving skills; Expert level Excel modeling experience required

  • Strong capacity to work with internal partners to improve processes and develop best practices.

  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently within a fast-paced environment

  • Solid understanding of digital advertising metrics and current industry trends

  • Strong communication skills: ability to translate quantitative details into clear, succinct summaries and recommendations for peers, sales, and executive audiences. Possess an ability to work effectively and interface with both the sales team and product teams. Must be comfortable communicating at all levels from C-Suite to junior team members.

  • Education Preferred: BA/BS with majors in Business, Marketing, Statistics, or Economics

  • 3-4+ years of pricing experience required, digital media experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of Yieldex, Tableau, BigQuery and SQL a plus
