The Wall Street Journal is seeking a video editor for a 10-part news magazine video series telling originally reported stories. We are looking for a seasoned editor who will be able to use his or her craft to tell compelling visual stories in a correspondent-driven immersive format. The series focuses on verite scenes with ‘ordinary people’ and/or the correspondent trying new things. The editor needs to weave these elements plus interviews and archival material together. The editor needs to work closely with a producer to tell compelling visual stories that match the tone, style, and narrative structure of the series and of The Wall Street Journal.
Your clips should demonstrate sophistication, narrative storytelling skills, as well as an understanding of journalistic principles.
You should be able to work quickly and independently on very tight deadlines while maintaining a commitment to accuracy and detail. You should have a deep understanding of journalistic principles and how these principles should play into the edit. You should be able to select and use music to complement the storyline of each episode.
The editor should be a team player with a positive attitude (a sense of humor doesn’t hurt, either!).
