The Wall Street Journal’s Office of the Editor in Chief seeks an Executive Assistant to help with essential tasks to support the Journal’s newsroom. This position is a unique opportunity for a talented and motivated person to work closely with senior leaders managing our fast-paced and exciting newsroom with bureaus spanning the globe.
The ideal assistant will be a team player who is detail-oriented, self-motivated and confident in their ability to advise and support an executive leadership team. You must have strong communication skills, a professional demeanor and be able to be trusted with confidential information. You should also have a passion for operations work and the news business, but not be seeking a career in journalism.
You should be a creative problem solver who is extremely well-organized, calm under pressure and a skilled multitasker. Tact, courtesy and discretion are also essential.
Be responsible for a number of office tasks, including answering phones, handling correspondence, scheduling meetings and maintaining the EIC’s calendar.
Manage the EIC’s extensive travel schedule, planning and arranging trips, as well as other meeting logistics.
Organize the office workflow and take on special projects as needed.
Preferably, a college degree and previous experience as an executive assistant.
A demonstrated ability to think strategically and a track record of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously.
A command of MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
This position is based at the Journal’s headquarters in New York City and reports to the EIC’s Chief of Staff.
