Department/Product Overview:

The Dow Jones People team is seeking a Director Leadership & Talent Development to report to the SVP, Head of Talent Management & OD. The Talent Management & Organizational Development team leads the global talent strategy, including performance management, talent and succession planning, leadership and talent development, employee engagement, as well as organizational design and change management support to meet the evolving needs of the business and culture.

About the Role:

The Director Leadership & Talent Development partners with the SVP, Head of Talent Management & OD to build and oversee a new leadership development and learning strategy that meets the demands of a growing global organization in an ever changing world. The Director Leadership & Talent Development plays a key role in advancing leadership capabilities, fostering inclusivity and empowering employees and teams with the knowledge and tools to be successful. This role partners with internal stakeholders, multiple leaders and subject matter experts to identify organizational needs and implement key learning journeys and experiences for the global company.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • In partnership with the SVP, Head of Talent Management and OD, develop and execute the leadership development strategy, building innovative and inspiring learning solutions that are focused on high-impact outcomes that support Dow Jones mission, strategy and culture.

  • Oversee from inception to delivery level specific learning journeys and innovative program design to support the span of leadership, from leading self to first time managers to experienced leaders of leaders.

  • Lead the strategy and redesign of high-potential/ top talent development programming to support global talent readiness and deepen leadership bench strength to meet long-term organizational objectives for growth and succession.

  • Provide best practices, insights, consultation and coaching on topics such as leadership, team dynamics, learning design, change management and employee engagement.

  • Ensures the learning ecosystem of technology, vendors and tools effectively deliver blended learning solutions that meet the evolving needs of the organization.

  • Build strong cross-functional relationships and partner closely with business leaders, People Business Partners and colleagues to understand and analyze performance gaps, identify development needs and recommend appropriate learning and development solutions to strengthen talent at all levels.

  • Ensure leadership and learning programs are progressive, relevant and consistently deliver on expectations, identifying and monitoring key metrics to measure effectiveness and impact. Benchmark programs against industry best practices to ensure all programs are top quality and produce a solid return on investment.

  • Oversee marketing, change management and communication plans to ensure organizational awareness, stakeholder buy-in and high engagement of learning initiatives.

  • Ensures learning and development programs, processes and initiatives embed equitable and inclusive practices. Collaborate with employee resource groups and the Training, Culture & Community team to create unified experiences that support the growth and unique needs of diverse and under-represented communities.

  • Oversee L&D budget and vendor management, including but not limited to forecasting and monitoring expenses, developing business cases/ investment requests for future needs, selection of external partners and providers, etc.

  • Lead the ongoing performance and development of direct reports, fostering a culture of collaboration, trust, excellence and impact.

Knowledge/Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Psychology or related field, Masters or advanced degree in I/O Psychology or Human Resources a plus

  • 8-10 years experience working in Leadership Development, Talent Development, Talent Management, Organizational Development, and/or HR Business Partner or HR Consulting roles

  • Expertise in leadership behavior and development, program management, adult learning and workforce development

  • Professional certification in coaching with applied experience coaching various levels of leadership preferred

  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated experience leading individuals and developing high-performing teams

  • Proven experience designing, delivering and managing learning initiatives that can scale to large and diverse audiences

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent presentation, facilitation and public speaking skills - in both virtual and in-person settings

  • Strong understanding of instructional design, curriculum development, assessment methodologies and instruments (i.e., Hogan, MBTI, DiSC, 360-degree feedback tools, etc.), certifications a plus

  • Experience working in a global environment, media or financial services industry experiences a plus

  • Strong ability to inspire, coach and consult leaders through change and transformation

  • Team oriented with the ability to foster a collaborative and creative environment

Preferred Tools/Skills:

  • Learning Management System (LMS) administration, Cornerstone experience a plus

NYC Pay Range: $100,000 - $250,000
