We build sleek, state-of-the-art products accessible from devices and platforms. We thrive on creativity and the thrill of bringing big ideas to market faster and better than our competitors. Comprised of designers, art directors and front end developers, the team closely collaborates with editorial, technology, sales and customers to carry out our ambitious road map of innovation.
We are seeking an enterprising data-oriented reporter to join the Corporate Bureau in New York.
The ideal candidate is a reporter who is creative and inquisitive, who can conceive of their own ambitious ideas and report them out. The goal is to use data to help the WSJ tell stories about companies, their executives, customers and investors. We want to use data to help answer important questions, uncover trends, and add context and insight to both breaking news and long-running themes.
We are looking for a team player who is comfortable collaborating with both fellow beat reporters as well as our graphics teams. This person is expected to write traditional stories, including leders and profiles, as well as wrangle data and work with graphics to produce interactives or other visual stories.
The ideal candidate will be familiar with Excel and other tools of data analysis and have experience working on data projects or doing statistical analysis. This is not a coding or graphics job, though such experience could be helpful. This is a reporting job that will require solid news judgment, an ability to cultivate sources, conduct interviews, find and analyze data, and write quickly and cleanly.
