Barron’s, the world’s leading investing publication, is seeking a Data Analyst to assist in the continued growth of its Wealth & Asset Management products. The Wealth and Asset Management Group (W+AM) has a rich history of providing best-in-class content, tools and services for financial advisors looking to improve client outcomes. We are expanding our mission with a comprehensive subscription product heavily dependent on the utilization of first and third party data to guide us to success.
The Data Analyst will be an integral part of the Wealth & Asset Management Group as the business becomes more reliant on data. You should first and foremost understand what drives this business unit, which factors influence the group’s strategy and how the available data within the company can contribute to the success of its strategy. In this role you will become an expert on our audience, using your deep understanding of the data to analyze our current performance, identify new patterns, and derive insights that guide our decision making. Your knowledge of our data ecosystem will influence the evolution of our architecture, pipelines, and the tools leveraged in utilizing our data. This role will report to the Director of Growth and will be a crucial piece connecting our data science, engineering, marketing, and product teams.
Interpret trends from the data and work closely with stakeholders to enable them to understand the dynamics behind the data.
Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data exploration, and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how our users interact with our products.
Collaborate with colleagues across departments and brands to identify and resolve data issues, applying critical thinking to find quick resolutions.
Be a steward of our data governance and data privacy requirements; ensuring data accuracy, reducing misinterpretation of data, and preventing misuse or dissemination of sensitive data.
Leverage the company’s immense data stores to provide actionable insight for key product and business decisions.
Provide input into the improvement and expansion of our proprietary data lake as a function of the larger customer data platform. This includes developing solutions, testing, and integrating into core production processes.
Assist our data engineering, data science & analytics teams to help classify and further develop our data architecture for use with various tools as it related to W+AM initiatives.
Oversee daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly dashboards and build new dashboards using Adobe, Tableau, GA360 or other approved data visualization tool.
Propose future actions based on the insights learnt.
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative subject (Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) preferred
Experience in data analysis and problem solving with large amounts of diverse data.
Ability to think creatively to solve complex problems.
Ability to autonomously manage simultaneous projects in a fast paced business environment.
Ability to work independently and collaborate across multiple teams.
Knowledge of relational databases and methods for efficient data retrieval.
Fluency in SQL is required.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Experience with web analytics tools expected (particularly Adobe Analytics)
Candidates with hands-on coding experience a plus.
Familiarity with Tableau or similar data visualization tools a plus.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate the results of analyses in a clear and effective manner.
Ideally have worked as an Analyst within a media, marketing or data organization that handles membership or subscriptions.
