Job Description:

We are looking for a VP, Creative Director, B2B to set the direction and standards for design across our B2B portfolio, combining innovation and usability to create the world's leading design ecosystem from a product perspective. Our B2B portfolio includes Factiva, NewsPlus, Risk & Compliance and any new B2B related products

As VP, Creative Director, you will collaborate with product, technology, marketing, data, insights, and advertising teams to elegantly solve problems for users while driving business value. In this leadership role, you will contribute to ideation and evolution of our products and be held responsible for the level of design, supporting the creation and communication of overarching design strategies that are both innovative and sustainable. You will also contribute to the tools that will power our growth. This includes the definition of process and adoption of methodologies to ensure we are customer-focused and that our visual vocabulary, interaction patterns, and design system enable the mission and communicate the voice of Dow Jones.

You will be responsible for building and mentoring a strong design team within the department, creating a culture of excellence in ideas and execution, collaborating across departments and creating connections across DJ through regular communications and reports.

The VP, Creative Director, B2B will report directly to the SVP of Product & Customer Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide creative thought leadership and drive visual design across all platforms by combining industry best practices, industry standard methodologies, metrics, and analytics with your expertise.

  • Provide strategic guidance to ensure that design solutions support specific business goals.

  • Lead the design team in ideation and concept explorations, partnering with Product Management, Engineering, and other internal partners to shape the UX strategy and experience of consumer-facing products and internal tools.

  • Direct brainstorming meetings and creative sessions.

  • Meet with stakeholders and upper management to get input and communicate strategies and solutions.

  • Contribute hands on sketches and concepts to guide the team, assist in project deliverables when needed.

  • Contribute to regular reports and socialization of new directions.

  • Ensure that the customer stays front and center in our solutions through the use of methodologies including Design Thinking and Participatory Design.

  • Ensure workload, dependencies, and sustainability are understood and factored in the solution to a project.

  • Own the evolution of our visual vocabulary in our design system and its application in projects.

  • Remain actively involved in hiring and training of creative staff, including the career development of staff members.

  • Conduct regular reviews to ensure excellence and consistency.

  • Guide the team to deliver projects that are exceptional creatively and impeccable technically.

  • Maintain a critical eye and an obsessive attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Degree in design, computer science, human factors or equivalent work experience.

  • Design professional with 10 or more years of relevant work experience.

  • 5+ years in previous leadership roles and can effectively oversee the quality and efficacy of our digital team’s work.

  • Experience working in an Agile environment.

  • Strong strategic, conceptual skills and a deep knowledge of the digital landscape.

  • Demonstrated ability to design inspiring new solutions to challenges, often in collaboration with end users and stakeholders.

  • Proven experience in design direction and design evolution for established brands, especially in establishing brand continuity and consistent voice across multiple platforms and products.

  • Experience working with and designing for large-scale publishing and data-rich systems including content management systems, taxonomy and information architecture, search and syndication, personalization, subscriptions and membership optimization, ads & analytics, and emerging platforms.

  • Experience working with multiple types of users with different needs and goals.

  • Proven track record of inventing and simplifying elegant design solutions with a consistent visual vocabulary that make the complex feel simple to the end user.

  • Outstanding facilitation, brainstorming and collaboration skills.

  • Superior communication and reporting skills.

  • Proven experiences with methodologies including Design Thinking, Participatory Design, and Service Design and a personal design approach that includes iteration and testing.

  • Experience developing and implementing Design Systems.

  • Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards and compliance.

  • Experience building and mentoring teams.
