Job Description:

Audio Producer, Podcasts

Dow Jones is seeking a creative and entrepreneurial Audio Producer who is well versed in news, finance, business, and technology to produce a weekly financial news podcast from MarketWatch.

The ideal candidate has experience producing fast-paced news content and coaching on-air talent, with a strong understanding and interest in financial news, markets, business, and economics and ability to turn around episodes quickly. The candidate will help select topics and structure episodes with multiple interviews on a weekly basis, and can build episodes with multiple tracks and scoring. Strong candidates will also have experience in writing compelling scripts.

This person will also provide data and insights on audio performance and suggestions for growing audience and engagement.


  • Produce full episodes from start to finish, including researching, pitching ideas, booking guests, writing scripts, fact checking, cutting tape, finding archival news clips, assembling mixes, and scoring episodes

  • Schedule recordings with podcast host

  • Record and direct host recordings both remotely or in studio

  • Coach reporters and editors without audio experience on presenting for audio

  • Book and schedule interviews with guests

  • Maintain the production schedule, including scheduling meetings, interviews and recording sessions

  • Attend Marketwatch editorial meetings to gather ideas and work with Marketwatch editorial staff on crafting stories

  • Assist on production needs across our other podcasts as appropriate

  • Work on growing audiences and promotion efforts

Key candidate requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience working in audio production

  • The ability and flexibility to work in a fast paced, changing environment

  • Strong writing skills and experience in building podcast episodes

  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks, problem solve, and execute against deadlines

  • Professional-level understanding of podcast editing tools such as Adobe Audition or Pro Tools and Descript, or ability to learn

  • Interest and knowledge in business, finance, and economics
