Job Description:
This role supports the Live Journalism Specialist Sales team and reports into the Senior Director, Specialty Sales, Live Journalism. The successful candidate will conduct analysis on sales and sponsors in support of the specialists and the sales organization. S/he will also be responsible for maintaining the integrity of our inventory for our live in-person and virtual events and conference business. The ideal candidate will also support the Specialist Sales, Live Journalism team in actively managing research and other proactive sales projects.
Role & Responsibility
Continue to enhance, maintain and manage WSJ/BG’s Live Journalism sponsorship sales tracking via Salesforce.
Interact daily with the specialists, the programing team, the sales team and the marketing campaign management team to ensure end-to-end execution of active projects
Utilize historical data to uncover and support strategic decisions from the specialist team about new sales offerings
Monitor and assess inventory and project performance and use performance data to spot trends that will inform the specialist team in future pitches and projects
Work on day-to-day operational tasks that support team projects
Assist the specialists, the client partners and the post-sale teams during all phases of the event lifecycle, tracking the conference timeline, deliverables, budget and relevant event milestones.
Deliver weekly status updates to the internal team to keep projects on track
Pull status reports and send reminders to the team for upcoming events or projects
Create and update multiple spreadsheets such as mailing lists, contact lists and client information.
Track and report competitive analysis on a quarterly basis
Provide general assistance to the Live Journalism specialist sales team as needed
Skills & Experience
1-2 years Salesforce platform experience and sales administrative support. Event experience is a plus but not required.
BA/BS College degree preferred
Strong analytical, strategic, and creative problem solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in person, over email and on the phone
Strong project management and organizational skills
Computer literate with experience in Excel or Google Sheets, preferred
The ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Attention to detail and ability to multitask and creatively problem solve within short time frames
High level of initiative and self-motivation
Solution-minded, always looking for ways to improve efficiency and processes
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast paced environment while managing multiple projects and tight deadlines
