Job Description:Lead Software Engineer

We are looking for a creative and passionate Software Engineer who want to be part of a technology team where everyone has the opportunity to come up with new ideas and to shape the future of our company in building game-changing software. In this role you will lead the team that is responsible for ingesting, transforming, storing and delivering Market Data content across all of Dow Jones. Lead engineers are expected to make technology decisions and help champion best practices around architecture, infrastructure, testing, and code design. Our engineers play a critical role in all stages of the product life cycle, so we look for people who crave ownership, collaborate across the business, and think strategically to solve difficult problems.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead necessary software investigation, analysis and evaluation to determine solution feasibility.

  • Designs and implements solutions for our enterprise applications and directs activities through the full software development lifecycle.

  • Understands and practices agile software development and management.

  • Defines application development standards for designing, building and maintaining applications, components, and common services including the recommended use of languages and tools.

  • Partners effectively with product management to manage scope and deliverables for the technical side of the product roadmap.

  • Able to identify areas of strategic technical debt and provide cost/benefit analysis for eliminating this debt and suggested timelines for how to prioritize it.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent

  • 8+ years experience developing enterprise applications

  • Proven understanding of Computer Science fundamentals including OO, service-oriented architecture, cloud computing and domain driven design.

  • Proficient in web based technologies including: C#, ASP.NET, MVC, IoC, IIS, JSON

  • Experience with relational and document based databases

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in .Net Core

  • Queueing technologies such as ZeroMQ

  • Experience with distributed caching technologies

  • Exposure to Docker, Elastic Beanstalk or other cloud/container based application deployment

  • Cloud technologies and design patterns (AWS preferred)

  • CI/CD experience with Terraform and Jenkins

  • Web technologies like HTML5, CSS, JavaScript
