Dow Jones Junior Events Manager in LONDON, United Kingdom

Job Description:

What is the role?

A team player who is responsible for producing first class live and virtual events for Dow Jones, The Wall Street Journal and Barron’s. The Dow Jones events team produces well over 250 events a year (globally) of all shapes, sizes and formats, bringing our brands to life for our members, our clients and our colleagues. At the heart of it all is live journalism, connecting our audiences with newsmakers and big ideas, via ambitious experiences to keep our audiences engaged.

As one of our Junior Event Managers you will be assisting in developing, planning and producing industry-leading events, and taking full responsibility for various stages of the process. You will work closely with the team to find innovative and engaging ways to deliver – taking both a creative and operational approach - with energy, ambition and a willingness to support all elements of the event, big and small.

What is my personal contribution?

  • End-to-end event management from ideation, to planning, to delivery, on time and in budget

  • Streamline internal processes with a focus on finance, innovation and operations

  • Assist with Sourcing, shortlisting, negotiating and confirming suitable venues (virtual and physical) along with tendering and confirming suitable vendors with a cost saving focus

  • Collaborating with editorial and commercial teams for event concept, content, creative and execution

  • Helping to produce, create and proof production, literature, audio visual and online in line with brand guidelines

  • Tailoring of events to specific requirements and budgets

  • Accountability for audio-visual production concept and theme for new and long running events

  • Pre event preparation and live on-site execution, assisting with the management of event staff, vendors and other team members

  • Post event analysis – reporting, de-brief meeting, year on year metrics with the management team

  • Accountability for finance operations - including but not limited to: P/O requests, invoice processing, general inquiries, ad-hoc tasks

  • Support the wider marketing and sponsorship teams for various marketing campaigns and third party events

  • Research and implementation of hybrid experiential enhancements to existing event franchises

  • Attend industry events and experiences as discovery for new initiatives

What do you need from me?

  • Preferably a minimum of 2 years of experience in the logistical/operational event area

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant business qualification

  • Ability to work comfortably and confidently, in a team and on occasions, under no supervision

  • Strong, confident and professional communication skills

  • Capability to work in a demanding and pressured environment which requires high levels of energy, creativity, and excellent organizational and project management skills

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office is a must, and a strong understanding of Excel is desirable.

  • Basic level of graphic design and email marketing software is advantageous

  • Enthusiasm, tenacity, positivity and curiosity with a good sense of humor

  • Willingness to travel to multiple events per year and to work some weekend hours in the week leading up to an event
