What do we do?

What are my accountabilities?

  • The Commercial Partnerships team is focused on aggressive growth of our audience and subscriber base globally by forming mutually beneficial commercial partnerships with designated partners.

  • This role is responsible for overseeing a partnerships sales team & channel sales operation, based across three different locations in APAC: Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo.

  • You will help to refine and implement the APAC strategy for growing Dow Jones’ audience and membership in the region across all consumer brands.

  • You will drive the efforts of the team to identify and convert revenue-generating, strategic deals to grow the Dow Jones franchise of subscribers. Deal types could include but are not limited to traffic driving, subscription bundling and syndication, and franchising. Target sectors include media, telecoms and technology, finance & fintech, travel, associations and membership groups.

  • Ensure that all partnerships are on brand, excel in customer experience seeking to consistently over satisfy and delight our customers.

  • Responsible for managing relationships at all levels as well as focusing on new business development.

  • Responsible for overseeing aspects of the sales cycle and making sure that partnerships are aligned with the company goals.

  • Approve key decisions and commercial terms for partnerships in the region.

  • Work with our other News Corporation companies to think beyond our titles’ brands, to build sustainable strategic alliances.

  • Oversee the management internally and with agencies in key deliverables of the partnership strategy, ensuring that Dow Jones’ is regarded consistently as a valuable and trusted partner to work with.

  • Encourage collaboration and gain the trust and support of others internally and externally, actively engaging with people in other teams and departments to solicit their input and ensure their awareness of key projects/initiatives.

  • Dealing with multiple internal stakeholders across different departments from Finance, Legal, Technology, Operations - many of whom in different locations and may require joining some calls at unsociable hours.

  • International travel will be required, subject to company policy.

  • Represent the company at company events and conferences.

What do you need from me?

  • Fluent in spoken & written English and overall exceptional communication skills.

  • Fluency in another Asian language is preferable.

  • Extensive experience in sales, managing a sales team and track record in new business development and partnerships.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.

  • Proven track record of success in bringing in new customers.

  • Experience of managing partnerships across media, financial services, telecoms and technology, travel, associations and membership groups.

  • Solid understanding of the current media landscape and particularly within Asia.

  • Ability to structure mutually rewarding partnership propositions within the above sectors.

  • Negotiation skills and the use of media as a negotiation value.

  • Experience of an editorial/creative led environment.
