UX Researcher, Subscriptions

Our Technology Group brings together Product, UX, Engineering, Data & AI, PMO and Operations with a single purpose: to connect people to the news that matters most when they need it and where they need it by creatively defining and building connected, innovative and sustainable experiences/products that are data informed and with a customer lens.

The Customer Insights team supports Dow Jones strategic goals and their implementation by providing end to end understanding of our markets, customers and products from market research to user testing to rapid testing.

We are looking for a UX Researcher, Subscriptions to be a voice and advocate for users of our websites and apps across our Consumer product portfolios, learning about their goals, desires and preferences. Our Consumer business portfolios include The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, MarketWatch, and many more.

You will help deliver a systematic study of target users and their requirements, adding realistic contexts and insights to our UX processes and provide valuable information and actionable insights to optimize solutions.

This will be a collaborative role requiring partnerships with colleagues in Customer Insights, UX Architecture, UX Design, Engineering, Product as well as SMEs and partners across Dow Jones. This role is based in Barcelona and requires 3 days in the office, as per our current mandate which may change in the future.

The UX Researcher, Subscriptions will report to the Manager, UX Research.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with UX Architects and Designers and our key partners to help define outstanding end-to-end user experiences for our Consumer audiences

  • Contribute to overall product direction in collaboration with other functional area leads by delivering actionable evaluations of proposed and current UX solutions

  • Play an integral role in centralizing and organizing user insights in a knowledge repository

  • Report on current projects and use of resources

  • Coordinate testing with third-parties and internal teams

  • Demonstrate all product-related UX documentation with sound and clearly communicated rationale

  • Take part in research and insight communication across a multidisciplinary team throughout each phase of a project

  • Stay informed with UX research trends and techniques, and proactively pursue knowledge for professional development

  • Provide feedback and recommendations on how UX can best achieve business goals supporting UX strategy and overall best practices for user experience

  • Facilitate hands-on problem solving sessions, events and workshops with cross functional teams copy

  • Supply in-depth research reports that help with decision making

  • Assist in the development and tracking of product behavioral and attitudinal performance measures

  • Answer questions on product experience, including behaviors, pain points, ideas for improvement.

  • Answer questions on treatment of content, including formats, features, and layout/structure, ease of use.

  • Answer questions on customer journeys - how people move through our products and how we can optimize this.

  • Answer questions on acquisition and onboarding journeys, including how we remove friction and improve experiences.

  • Meet with stakeholders to get input and communicate strategies and solutions

  • Ensure that the customer stays front and center in our solutions

Required Skill Set:

  • 1-3 years experience in a similar role in a consumer space

  • Pursuing or have completed a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Basic understanding of rich interactive, consumer, or enterprise web applications

  • Experience conducting, analyzing and communicating UX research

  • Experience with UserZoom or other user testing software, and industry standard digital product design tools (Figma, Adobe CC, Omnigraffle and prototyping software such as InVision)

  • Proficiency with G-suite products and experience with professional collaboration tools such as, Jira, Miro, Confluence and Airtable.

  • Understanding of latest Web and App user experience best practices

  • Familiarity with web UI/UX technologies and standards including HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript/JQuery

  • Understanding of user-centered design principles

  • Experience with, or a strong interest in, the media, news, information & data sector.

  • Comfortable in a hybrid working environment and know how to influence from a distance.
