Position Title: Manager, Politically Exposed People
Reports to: Director, Risk & Compliance Research - PEP
Location: Barcelona, Spain
The PEP Manager is responsible for leading a team of Research Editors in Barcelona.
The team is responsible for the growth, maintenance and quality of a large database of Politically Exposed People (PEPs) and their relatives and close Associates (RCAs). Those individuals are of interest to global financial organizations because they may represent a money-laundering risk.
The team is also responsible for researching and producing enhanced due diligence reports on companies and executives.
The Manager reports to the Director and plays a key role in the continuing market success of Risk and Compliance.
The Manager works closely with their peers and reports to ensure that Risk and Compliance content is kept up to date and meets client requirements of content and quality.
Lead, in a collaborative environment, a highly dedicated research team to achieve Risk and Compliance’s output/quality/timeliness targets. The Manager’s duties include recruitment, defining goals, performance management and identifying and implementing coaching and development with staff.
The Manager is responsible for allocating country research responsibilities across the team of Research Editors to deliver the most comprehensive, accurate, up-to-date and thorough coverage possible to meet client expectations. The Manager must ensure that the country rewrite schedule for the team takes into account all relevant factors. For example, election results must be incorporated into the product in a timely manner.
The Manager is also responsible for ensuring that all Due Diligence reports allocated to the team are delivered on time and according to quality standards. The Manager must ensure that all day-to-day monitor of business party risk is completed on time.
Good communication skills are key to the role of Manager, who must pass to their team the strategic requirements to give Risk and Compliance a sustainable competitive advantage.
Managers may be called on to promote the Risk and Compliance research process internally and externally and support Risk and Compliance Sales Specialists prospecting and selling the service.
Managers are also required to ensure that clients receive clear, responsive communication to queries relating to the Risk and Compliance research process and its content.
Excellent understanding of Risk and Compliance, its structure, its content and methodology used
Ability to manage a team with a focus on quality- and quantity-metrics and finding the right balance between the two
Ability to identify wholly with Dow Jones’ service obligations to its clients
Strong presentation and communication skills (both internally and externally)
Strong research skills
Knowledge of and interest in international affairs
Ability to conceptualize information systems and user interfaces
Ability to adapt readily to changing customer expectations and allocate resources appropriately
Ability to take ownership of issues
Ability to coordinate appropriate internal resources
Education to degree level
Fluency in English, professional level of fluency in at least one of the major Risk and Compliance languages
