Job Description:Frontend Engineering Manager (React)
Do you like building scalable and resilient, customer-focused applications in a cloud computing environment? The Dow Jones Technology team is modernizing its industry renowned Risk and Compliance platform and is looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager with passion for building and advancing mission critical product capabilities. You will lead and mentor a group of highly skilled and talented engineers. You will need to bring keen analytical skills and a passion for creative problem-solving. We seek someone who can manage both the technological solutions as well as the teams who build those solutions.
Responsibilities
Able to lead recruiting efforts for the team
Full ownership of and accountability for the flagship R&C tool at Dow Jones
Manage and mentor a highly skilled, talented team of Software Engineers
Understand and practice BDD and Agile software development and management
Partner effectively with stakeholders to manage scope and deliverables
Lead development teams to analyze project requirements, design, implement, document, test, and maintain frontend interfaces in a highly collaborative environment, adhering to our SDLC best practices and guidelines
Ensure engineering standards in the areas of design, code quality and security.
Support Dow Jones technical cultural values and independently drive solutions
Prioritize, manage and report on the status of efforts
Qualifications
Computer Science or equivalent degree
Expert in core web and browser concepts and technologies such as React, Design System
Extensive experience of design, hands on development, and deployment of application software
Experience in a lead or mentorship role - or aspiration to move into a leadership role
Excellent verbal & written skills to interact with peers, business partners & customers
Ability to organize work, set priorities and determine resource requirements
Experience in managing product development projects and coordinating activities of project teams
Deep understanding of Computer Science fundamentals including service-oriented architectures, cloud computing, and behavior-driven development
Substantial experience in building high performance, distributed systems that lend themselves to easy operation and capacity forecasting
Experience in logging, monitoring & alerting of applications
Experience in Continuous Integration & Delivery of applications
Familiar with Test Automation and performance metrics measurement tools
